June 19- June 28 2007: in Collaboration with the School of Mathematics and Statistics. The group has run the Summer School in 2005 and 2007, which were sponsored by EPSRC. The Summer School is primarily intended for UK based PhD students, research assistants and fellows. It is also open to participants from other EU countries and industry. It aims to provide the solid mathematical foundations for the study and investigation of the many physical processes that are important in describing the coastal environment. It is aimed at candidates who are working in the field of coastal engineering or coastal dynamics and those from mathematical and physical science who may like to apply their skills to coastal engineering. The School is also designed to provide opportunities to improve transferable skills such as data management, presentations and group working. A comprehensive set of lecture materials, key references and some examples of software will be provided for each participant.
